Congratulations to Beggs Elementary School student Simon Lopez for achieving a perfect score on his Oklahoma School Testing Program (OSTP) math test last year in third grade!
State tests help gauge how a student is growing in the knowledge and skills for a subject area outlined in the Oklahoma Academic Standards
Lopez was presented a movie gift card from BES Principal Nancy McCune during morning Rise n Shine activities and congratulated by his third grade teacher, Mrs. McNabb and current fourth grade teacher Mrs. Miller. He was very surprised and his fellow BES students cheered wildly for him.
According to the Oklahoma State Department of Education website, a student who scores advanced in the math subject area has the ability to "complete complex addition, subtraction, and multiplication problems and model division facts, order fractions using models and compose and decompose fractions related to the same whole and extend patterns and generate real-world situations to represent number sentences."
Lopez is the son of Adam and Angela Lopez.
